Post match report

London Seaward fell to a 2-0 defeat against league leaders Chatham Town but showed resilience and determination in a challenging encounter at the Bauvill Stadium.

Having suffered a heavy 8-0 loss at home to the same opposition in the League Cup just weeks earlier, Seaward entered this fixture aiming for a much-improved performance. Although Chatham dominated possession and created numerous chances, Seaward defended resolutely and frustrated the home side for large spells of the match.

Chatham started quickly, putting Seaward under early pressure; however, keeper Alex Baker was vital in keeping us in it.

Unfortunately, Chatham achieved their breakthrough goal in the 8th minute with a strike from Ellie Jeffkins.

Despite the early goal, we remained organised and disciplined to limit Chatham’s opportunities.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Chatham continuing to push for a second goal.

Seaward had an opportunity when a pass was played towards new signing Zainab El Mouden with only the keeper ahead, but the ball was too heavy and was gathered by the Chatham keeper.

Baker pulled off several fine saves, including a fingertip stop to deny Chatham, before unfortunately having to leave the field after picking up an injury with center back Beatrice Rogers stepping up for her third appearance in goal for the season.

As full-time approached, Chatham unfortunately doubled their lead when Darcy Wells headed him from a corner.

Seaward battled until the final whistle to prevent further damage despite a dominant final few minutes from Chatham.

Despite the defeat, London Seaward can take pride in a vastly improved display against one of the strongest teams in the division.
